Motorists are being advised of a temporary road closure near Chapel Lawn this summer while essential retaining wall repair works are carried out by Shropshire Council.
The C6208 road between the A488 and Lower Lye Junction, near New Invention, Chapel Lawn, Bucknell, will be closed to vehicular traffic from 13 July to 31 July 2026.
The project will involve removing a collapsed retaining wall, constructing a new concrete footing, rebuilding the wall, installing parapet fencing, and reinstating the highway verge and carriageway.
For safety reasons, the road will be closed on a 24-hour basis throughout the duration of the works. A signed diversion route will be in place for motorists. Details of the diversion can be found via One.Network.
Pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will also be unable to pass through the works area during the closure. However, access to properties within the affected area will be maintained up to the closure points.
The works will be carried out by Kier, Shropshire Council’s term maintenance contractor, with supervision provided by WSP on behalf of the council.
Advance warning signs will be installed ahead of the closure, and information letters will be distributed to local residents.
Shropshire Council has apologised for any inconvenience caused and says every effort will be made to minimise disruption while the repairs are completed.
